Using Inflatable Kayaks

Kayaking is one of the most enjoyed hobbies in the world. People travel for many miles to get a chance to join in on this type of adventure. It is exciting and changeling. It challenges a person both physically and mentally. It is one of the most enjoyed hobbies around. Before you go ocean kayaking you will have to choose a kayak to use. There are several styles on the market each with their own specific advantages. The inflatable kayak is one of the choices that you will have available to you. These are a great choice and a very safe kayak to use. In fact, inflatable kayaks safety is proven to meet or exceed any other style of kayak.

One thing that makes inflatable kayaks so safe is because they have so much buoyancy. They will sit up higher in the water and allow you to place more weight in them. Having all this buoyancy also helps them to float better as well. Inflatable kayaks are more stable than other types of kayaks. This is because they have a flat bottom design with a lower center of gravity. They are safer because they do not tip over as easily. These factors combined make the inflatable kayak one of the safest ones around.

You will not have to worry about these kayaks flipping when you are in waters that turn rough or if someone traveling with you decides to stand up. They are made to be tough. They will not puncture easily. Inflatable kayaks can also cost you a lot less than other styles. When it comes to transporting them it’s a breeze. They fold up nice and need and can be carried easily in a duffel bag or the back seat of your car. When you think about it there are a lot of advantages to choosing an inflatable kayak over other styles.

For an investment that will be money well spent you should consider inflatable kayaks. They have a lot to offer the serious kayaker. When you plan your trip you also need to ensure your safety by following all safety guidelines. You should do a full inspection to make sure that you have all of your safety equipment ready and that it is in good working condition. Have a repair kit with you at all times. Inflatable kayaks are durability but sometimes strange event can occur and it’s best to be prepared. Being safe means having the opportunity to return and go for another adventure at a later date.

Sit On Top Kayaks

February 4th, 2009 |

Sit On Top Kayaks

The name speaks for itself, you sit on it rather than in it and are great fun for anyone wishing to get into the water with no prior experience. They are light and easy to transport on most cars and have virtually no maintenance. These canoes are very popular with people going on holiday and short weekend trips.

There are two main types of Sit on Tops. The Recreational sit on top and the Specialist sit on tops. The recreational sit on tops are great for messing about at the beach, lake or river. They are suitable for short trips, playing in the surf and just about anything. They can be bought as solo, tandem or tandems with a third seat depending on your requirements and allow great fun for the whole family. The Specialist sit on tops that are available have specific designs whether it be for performance surfing, longer distance touring or fishing from.

The length of sit on top kayaks range from 2.42m to 3.9m and prices vary from 299 to 499 brand new. Other things you will need in addition to your sit on top will obviously be a paddle. It is also highly recommended that you wear a buoyancy aid when you are on the water. In addition to these essentials, there are many accessories available to make your experience more comfortable and enjoyable including backrests, a paddle leash, seat and back pads, scupper stoppers and sit-on-top trolleys.

Sit-On-Top Kayaks have grown ever more popular and now have a large share of the Kayak market what they offer is great fun and easy access for all levels of kayaking and a great introduction to the world of kayaking. They are also a great introduction to the world of kayaking offering the beginner a chance to hone their kayak skills whilst enabling easy access to and from the kayak from a sit on top position.

Benefits Of Sit-On-Top Kayaks Over Closed Deck Kayaks

In the sit-on-top kayak category, there are kayaks for fishing, scuba diving, ocean and surf, touring and excursions, and general recreation. Some of these are considered specialty boats, but generally you’ll find sit-on-tops are designed for easy use.

.

I Am A Lady Kayaker

I personally enjoy a sit on top kayak, the material nowadays are very durable, I guess for a lady the weight of the kayak would be important , and also the width the wider the kayak is the safer it is, there are plenty choices out there.

Sit-on-top kayaks are often used by fishermen because of the many fishing accessories that can be added to the kayak. Learn more about sit-on-top kayaks with tips from an experienced kayaker.

Dagger Echo 14 kayak

December 22nd, 2011 |

This is a dagger Echo kayak that I paddled around in for a while. It was exceptionally stable and was straight as an arrow with the skeg down, so stable that you could take a nap in this thing. It’s the only sit-in kayak that i’ve owned that my legs don’t fall asleep, well the other sit-ins were 20- 22 inches wide so I really can’t compare them. I believe this kayak is now back into production for 2011 by Perception Kayaks under a different name. I’m a sit-on-top guy but i would highly recommend this kayak to anyone who likes sit-ins. I hope the theif who stole my other yellow perception prism kayak out of my front yard will rot in Hades, and may his genitals be infested by the fleas of a thousand camels…

HOW TO GO SURF KAYAKING - Preview

November 25th, 2011 |

Presented by Rapid Transit Video, HOW TO GO SURF KAYAKING is a documentation of the development of the sport from 1997-2010. This is a story told by a group of surf paddlers from the East Coast. During the 45 minute running time you’ll receive a comical, however sincere, clinic on the lessons these surfers learned about how to travel to different countries with surf kayaks in search of waves, adventure and cultural experiences. Amongst East Coast surfing footage ranging from New Jersey to Florida, the group traveled with surf kayaks to ride waves in California, Costa Rica, Morocco, Portugal, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Ireland and Panama. From getting rental cars stuck in giant mud pits, contracting denuge fever from mosquito bites, breaking boats, and constantly pranking one another, there is entertainment any viewer can relate to. Surfers and kayakers alike will appreciate the challenge of traveling with kayaks and surfboards. Lastly, the journey to play in the waves is universally understood by anyone who loves watersports. By the end of the film you may well know HOW TO GO SURF KAYAKING. Written, directed, edited and produced by Spencer Cooke and Effort Inc. Effort.tv Co-Produced by Astral Buoyancy, Shred Ready, Joey Hall, Interference and Deadman Productions The DVD will be available for purchase in January 2012 at this website for .99 http Music on this preview is by The Underground Railroad to Candyland courtesy of Recess Records recessrecords.com and Southern Lovin’ PR

Kayaking Skills Basic Strokes Video

October 15th, 2011 |

www.rei.com Brad, an REI Outdoor School instructor, demonstrates basic kayak paddle strokes in this video: the forward stroke, turning strokes, and boat-control strokes. For the forward stroke, think about placing your blade in the water and moving past it, rather than pulling the blade through the water. This increases your efficiency. The forward stroke is made up of 3 elements: the windup, the catch, and the unwind. Rotate your torso (the windup), place the blade in the water by your foot (the catch), rotate your torso (the unwind) to move your boat forward, and then take the blade out of the water when your hand reaches your hip. Now your already wound up for the next catch. It’s a push with the upper hand and a pull with the lower hand while rotating the torso. In kayaking, technique is much more important than upper body strength. Now for turning strokes. The sweep stroke is a forward stroke that allows you to keep your momentum. It begins far forward in the front of the boat, sweeps way wide, and continues all the way back till the paddle touches the stern. Draw strokes help you move your kayak sideways, like to pull up next to a dock. The first draw stroke is a simple reach out and pull toward you. The other draw stroke is the sculling draw stroke: It’s a sustained back and forth motion, kind of like spreading peanut butter. The final stroke we’ll learn is how to stop a moving kayak—it’s back paddling, the reverse of the forward stroke.

What is the best style of Kayak for a begginner?

September 13th, 2011 |

I have been renting and borrowing a couple of different kayaks over the last 2 summers. One is a sit on top ocean kayak and one is a classic cheap kayak you sit in. I want to buy a proper kayak and at the moment I am looking at a Drago Rossi FISH kayak. I want the kayak purely for leasure and I want it to be able to do some decent rapids but honestly I will probabaly be on calm river water for the most part.

I am going to join a paddling club and learn proper techniques this winter where I will be paddling in pools mostly.
If you could reccomend a certain shape or type of kayak that would be awesome? Do you have any opinions on the Drago Rossi kayaks? speciafically the FISH? that would be helpful to?
I am also going to be trying out some Necky Kayaks this weekend
I want to learn tricks like rolling and such. What about a "Wavesport EZ kayak"?? I am looking at used kayaks?

Top 10-Paddle Kayaks Price Above $100 to Buy.

August 24th, 2011 |

amzn.to — Top 10-Paddle Kayaks Price Above 0 to Buy. Kayak–A kayak (not to be confused with a canoe) is a small human-powered boat that traditionally has a covered deck, and one or more cockpits, each seating one paddler who strokes a double-bladed paddle. The cockpit is covered by a spraydeck that keeps the inside of the boat (and the paddler’s lower body) dry. The spraydeck or similar waterproof covering attaches securely to the edges of the cockpit, preventing the entry of water from waves or spray, and making it possible, in some boats, to roll the kayak, capsizing and righting the boat without it filling with water or ejecting the passenger. Some modern kayaks have modified the traditional design in a variety of ways, such as eliminating cockpits, seating the paddler(s) on top of the boat, having inflated air chambers surrounding the boat, and replacing paddles with other propulsion methods. Kayak paddles–Kayak paddles having blades in the same plane (when viewed down the shaft) are called “un-feathered.” Paddles with blades in different planes (such as in the image) are called “feathered”. Feathered paddles are measured by the degree of feather, such as 30, 45, or even 90 degrees. The paddle in the image to the right is feathered around 15 degrees. Many modern paddles are made of two pieces which can be snapped together in either feathered or unfeathered settings. The shaft is normally straight but in some cases a ‘crank’ is added with the aim of making the

Motorized Fishing Kayak 55lb

August 9th, 2011 |

I wanted to do some trolling for bass in the dams around Southern Qld, Australia, and considering I do quite intensive physical activity at work, I didn’t want the extra workout for 5-6 hours straight on the water paddling. So, after checking out a fair few options on youtube of the different set-ups, I came up with my personal set-up. I bought a 55lb electric motor, a 100ah marine battery with box and terminals on outside (battery fully enclosed), a battery charger, 130cm piece of 4” x 2″ hardwood (merbau is probably better), 2 U-bolts and drill bit to fit. All costing around 0AUD (US0). I cut the piece of wood to length, drilled the holes for the U-bolts making sure I could reach into my Kayak thru the rear storage hole and attach the nuts. Carved ruts into the wood where the top of the U-bolt would rest on the wood (sits flush and doesn’t move a bit). I got a bit lucky with the battery. I thought I was going to have to cut a hole into the back of the Kayak to make sure it was secure, but it sits nicely against the wood transom beam and the strap goes around the transom and battery box to hold it on really firm. It sits quite firm and doesn’t move at all on smooth waters. Have not tested in the ocean as yet. May attach a couple more straps around it when I finally make the trip into the ocean. The snapper are on the bite so that will be soon. Originally I thought the Kayak would lean a bit to the side the motor was on, but my Kayak is really wide (100cm between

Kayaking: What Do You Need Besides a Kayak?

July 30th, 2011 |

Kayaking: What Do You Need to Get Started? - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. I tell people that the initial package for kayaking is a kayak, a paddle, and a life jacket. All three of them are a necessity that you need when you kayak. Anything after that starts to become additional equipment that you an always purchase, but those three you need to have. Like the kayaks, life jackets come in a variety of different sizes and colors and shapes and things as well. But basically there are literally life jackets designed for kayakers. They have bigger arm holes, for being able to move your arms more. In some cases they have high reflectivity. They have soft straps so that when you are in a kayak and sitting, you don’t have these straps sticking up into your face. And they are literally designed for kayaking and different size people. All of them of course have to be Coast Guard approved and they are noted to be manufactured. So the life jacket is a very important thing to have. One thing you want to always remember is that you are going to have this is your hand every second of the time that you are paddling. So I sort of preach the fact that you should find something that is going to be comfortable for you to be able to handle all the time. That it will be the right length that it is suppose to be so that it meets your height. And also the materials themselves of what the paddles are made from varies just as much the materials for when you are buying a kayak. You can
